In a scenario characterized by the challenge of structuring a regional development process that combines social responsibility with competitive insertion in the global economy, to join knowledge, education and innovation has become increasingly challenging in order to perpetuate the generation of employment, income and quality of life for the entire population of such region.

The challenge of promoting, in each territory, the development of intellectual capital, ability to generate ideas and knowledge and competence to turn that potential into innovative, socially responsible goods and services, capable of taking over part of the global market, is what might be understood under the perspective of the new competitiveness of the territories.

And the new competitiveness of the territories is grounded on the search for support to develop innovation habitats of various formats and entrepreneurial culture, stimulate organizational change with models more adapted to new realities and improve policies that promote development at local level, at the same time innovative entrepreneurship aim at a regional integration policy.

Under the keynote topic of "New Competitiveness of the Territories", the XXI Brazilian National Science Parks and Business Incubators Seminar and the XIX ANPROTEC Workshop offer an opportunity to ponder and evaluate the role of Parks and Incubators in the construction of a path guided by the synergy of innovative mechanisms and combination of strategies for a more creative society.

Hosted by the Brazilian Association of Science Parks and Business Incubators (Anprotec) in partnership with the Brazilian Service of Support for Micro and Small Companies (Sebrae), this event will be held in Porto Alegre – State of Rio Grande do Sul, from October 24 - 28 2011 with the local organization handled by Tecnopuc and Rio Grande do Sul State Network of Incubators of Companies and Science Parks – Reginp.

Acknowledged as a leading event of the industry, the National Seminar brings together experts and agents administering or in charge of regional economic growth. During this Semin uar, mini-courses will be held together with lectures and discussion sessions on how to make the actions locally integrated in a regional context and at the same time, more competitive. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and contribute to national development on sustainable basis.
